At 85% illumination, the Moon is nearing its full glory. Think of it as a plump, almost-perfect orb hanging in the night sky. The subtle shadows near the terminator (the line between the sunlit and dark portions) create a beautiful three-dimensional effect, highlighting craters and mountains with exquisite detail. It’s a magnificent sight for amateur astronomers, almost as captivating as the 100 percent full moon, but with a softer, less intense light. A wonderful time to capture its beauty in photography.
